Generally, a foreign citizen who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand is required to obtain a visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General.  However, nationals of certain countries do not require a visa if they meet visa exemption requirements as follows:

Nationals of the following 93 countries and territories are entitled to visa exemption for the purpose of tourism business engagements or urgent work or ad-hoc work, for up to 60 days period of stay and can be extended for another period not exceeding 30 days except

Visa on arrival (VOA)

Nationals of the following 31 countries and territories may apply for visa on arrival at the immigration checkpoints on arrival for purpose of tourism business engagements or urgent work or ad-hoc work for 15 days stay permit. Find out nationality list of Visa on Arrival (VoA) click here.

Furthermore, from 31 nationalities 17 are eligible to e-Visa on Arrival at Suvanarbhumi (BKK), Don Muang (DMK), Chiang Mai (CNX) and Phuket HKT International Airport. check nationalities eligible and or apply for e-VoA visit: https://evisa.govt.in.th/official/en-us/

Need a visa for entering to Thailand

Any other nationality does not list on visa exemption or Visa on Arrival lists. Please secure your visa before travel to the Kingdom of Thailand.

However, visa procedure, documents requirement, time to process and visa fee are depended on purpose of visit, nationality and guidance from Thai Royal Embassy / consulate of your nationality or resident permit. Since 1st January 2025, visitors from around the world can apply for a Thai e-Visa through the official website www.thaievisa.go.th.

Upon entering to Thailand at Immigration checkpoint. You may receive permission to stay following purpose of your visit and nationality. Non-Thai citizens must hold a valid passport with at least six months validity, a valid Thai visa, and proof on onward travel.
